Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro '83 announces USS McClung (LSM 1) as the name for the first ship in the new McClung-class of medium landing ships.

“We are exceptionally proud that the names of our alumni are immortalized today on more than thirty current capital ships and submarines, as well the as Nimitz, Zumwalt and Arleigh Burke classes of U.S. Navy ship. Continuing to honor Megan's memory through this new ship class allows for even more sailors, marines and citizens to learn about how special Megan McClung was and how impactful our alumni are to the Navy, Fleet Marine Forces and the United States of America.”
