VADM Richard Breckenridge '82, USN (Ret.), has been appointed senior advisor for shipbuilding for the Department of the Navy, where he will help guide efforts to expand the fleet, strengthen the maritime industrial base, and streamline acquisition. Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao said Breckenridge's leadership will support delivery of the “Fleet of the Future” and reinforce maritime dominance.
A 1982 U.S. Naval Academy graduate, Breckenridge brings decades of submarine experience, including command of USS Memphis and leadership roles at Submarine Group 2 and U.S. Fleet Forces Command. His appointment comes as the Navy pursues generational investments across surface, undersea, aviation, and support platforms.
