USNA Parent Quick Start Guide to myUSNA

Are you a new parent on myUSNA? Or are you a parent wondering what to do next and where to go? This guide is specifically built for you!

First Steps:

1) Let's make sure we're on the same page! If you haven't activated yet, you can do so here: https://myusna.com/signup. If you've already activated your account, you can update your email address or ensure it's the correct email address on your profile here: https://myusna.com/me/show. If it's incorrect, click "edit" next to the contact section.

2) Once your email address is correct, fill in other fields in your profile that will help other parents get to know you. What year is your mid? Do you have a preferred name? What's your Shared Location (city/state) shown as? These details help others know more about you from your profile.

3) Download the app! If you're on Safari, or viewing from your laptop, I'd highly suggest downloading the app. It's frequently getting updates and can be useful for mobile notifications. Apple App Store | Google Play Store

Now you can join your Parent Club: You can join your parent club any time at https://myusna.com/topics?category_id=1916 by searching for the parent club, or searching by state!

FAQs:

Who is myUSNA for?

myUSNA is built for all members of the USNA Alumni Association. This means there's open access to alumni, parents, and spouses of USNA Alumni. We also allow friends of the Naval Academy such as  professors and sponsor parents onto the site.  This means any parent can log in and register for an event, sign up for memberhsip, or post! While you don't need to be signed in to use the site, it helps the leaders of your group identify you better.

What is the platform used for?

myUSNA is used by our Parent Clubs, Chapters, Classes, and Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) to engage our community. This means each group has a page on myUSNA specifically for their parent club or other group where they can interact, or the "global" platform where they can view and interact with other parents from other areas.  Again, you don't need to be logged in to get info, but to participate or sign up for anything, you'll need to activate your account.

So how do I get involved?

This is where your parent club gets invovled! The best way to get engaged is to visit your parent club page and make a post. See who else is out there, what class is everyone's midshipmen,  are there any plebe parents or whatever you'd like to talk about! You can even share photos and links, or information you find helpful. To find your parent club, you can search from here and ask to join: https://myusna.com/topics?category_id=1916

What if I don't want emails? What if I'm not getting the emails I'd like?

That's no worries, we understand! If your emails are going to the wrong inbox, you can adjust that in your "Contact" section of your profile here: https://myusna.com/me/show.  Would you rather turn off certain emails or all emails? You can do so in your notification tab here: http://myusna.com/me/my-settings/notifications.

Who do I talk to if I have issues or other questions?

You can always send an email to [email protected] for any questions about the platform or app. If you have questions about your Parent Club, it's best to reach out to the President or leadership for their expertise!
