Steggerda '87 takes Oath as U.S. Ambassador in Geneva

Congratulations to Ambassador Todd Steggerda '87 (3rd Company, Aerospace Engineer, Naval Aviator, distinguished lawyer) who was sworn in 24 August 2026, as the new U.S. Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva.

 

Steggerda is a 1987 graduate of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. As a commissioned Naval Aviator, Mr. Steggerda subsequently served as a Navy Advanced Jet Flight Instructor and a Navy F/A-18 Pilot aboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). Following his active-duty military service, Mr. Steggerda earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in Iowa City, Iowa, graduating with high distinction. He was appointed to the Order of the Coif, an esteemed American honorary scholastic society.
