
The Naval Academy is in Smith's blood ('27 and '94)
Senior offensive lineman MIND 1/C Hoke Smith II, '27, has deep Naval Academy ties that extend far beyond the football field. The Birmingham, Alabama, native grew up immersed in the Academy tradition through his family and now serves as a leader on Navy's offensive line. A feature by Navy Athletics highlights Smith's journey to Annapolis, his commitment to service and the pride he takes in representing the Academy.
That connection is especially personal for Smith, whose mother, Helen Bloom Smith '94, is a Naval Academy graduate and member of the Naval Academy Athletic Foundation Board of Trustees. For Smith, wearing Navy blue and gold is more than playing football, it is carrying forward a family legacy of leadership, service and devotion to the Naval Academy.
