The B.B. Comer Memorial Library in Sylacauga will conclude its fall Brown Bag Lecture Series Wednesday, Nov. 4, at noon with a presentation exploring the contributions of men and women in rural Georgia to the Allied war effort during World War II.
The program’s guest speaker will be retired Navy Capt. Charles T. “Todd” Creekman presenting “My Mama Worked at the Shell Plant: World War II on the Rural Georgia Home Front.”
A Virginia native, Creekman graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1969 and served 30 years on active duty as a Navy surface warfare officer. During his military career, he commanded two ships before retiring in 1999 with the rank of captain, his biography notes.
