Following through on our commitment to establish closer relationships with the Annapolis community and our 69,000 living alumni, AA&F leadership has been working with St. Johns for several months to establish a larger presence at the Annapolis Cup and provide a specialized venue and opportunity to celebrate the annual match. AA&F is excited to announce that we will have a private space and 20X20 tent near the Croquet Pitch for the Annapolis Cup Saturday, April 5th 2025. This fully catered event by Main and Market will feature a full bar and food. AA&F will have 75 tickets available for sale to alumni @ $125 per ticket. Tickets purchased for the Annapolis Cup through the St. John's site are $80 per ticket and do not include food, drink or a designated space under a tent. This is a great opportunity to participate in a great Annapolis tradition, engage with other alumni and spend some time with AA&F staff during a great spring day. Pentagon watchdog halts review of military efforts to root out extremism
The Pentagon inspector general has scrapped plans to investigate the military's training for identifying and countering extremism in the ranks -- saying the project does not align with President Donald Trump's executive orders, according to a memo obtained by Military.com. The watchdog's directive, issued Feb. 25, abruptly halted an ongoing assessment of how military branches implement counter-extremism training, particularly efforts targeting radical organizations, white nationalist groups and militias such as the Oath Keepers, Proud Boys and the Ku Klux Klan. The decision to drop the review is the latest shift of Pentagon policy under Trump, who fired Defense Department Inspector General Robert Storch without providing 30 days' notice to Congress as required by law. The president also pardoned convicted Oath Keepers and Proud Boys members who rioted at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Air Force Academy's Muslim cadets denied accommodation during Ramadan
As Muslims around the world mark the month of Ramadan, some cadets at the Air Force Academy may need to push through rigorous physical training without food or water or forgo a few days of the holy fast. In recent years, Muslim cadets have been excused from physical training to allow them to participate in Ramadan, said a cadet, who spoke to The Gazette on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal. The cadet said he planned to fast, forgoing food and water from sun-up to sundown, during the physical training event following the academy's decision.

A dream realized: Jason Hartley's journey to West Point
President Donald J. Trump stood before a joint session of Congress and turned a high school senior's lifelong dream into reality, March 4, 2025. Among the many Americans he honored during his address, Trump singled out Jason Hartley, a young man from Southern California whose ambition to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point had just been fulfilled. With the chamber erupting in applause, Trump delivered the news that would change Hartley's life forever: "That's a hard one to get into, but I'm pleased to inform you that your application has been accepted. You will soon be joining the Corps of Cadets." For Jason Hartley, a senior at St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs, California, the moment was surreal. Sitting alongside his mother in the House gallery, he was visibly stunned as the president announced his appointment to one of the nation's most prestigious military institutions.
