WASHINGTON – The U.S. Navy achieved its 2025 recruiting goal June 18, three months ahead of the end of the current fiscal year after contracting 40,600 future Sailors.

He was Commanding Officer of Fighting Squadron (VF) 15, stationed aboard USS Essex (CV 9). He was an ace pilot, credited with 6.5 air-to-air victories. He had been awarded the Navy Cross, Legion of Merit, and three Distinguished F
