
HERO Campaign honors John Elliott (USNA Class of 2000) on 25th anniversary of his death

On Tuesday, 23 July, a moving 25th anniversary ceremony was held in Upper Pittsgrove Township to honor the memory of Navy Ensign John R. Elliott, whose life was tragically cut short by a drunken driver on 22 July 2000. He had graduated just two months earlier from the United States Naval Academy and was planning to enter Naval Flight School in the fall of that same year.
Twenty-four police departments came together in a mile-long motorcade of HERO Patrol Cars, leading to the very site where John’s life was cut short — and where his legacy was born.
