Mikie Sherrill (USNA '94) wins New Jersey governor race, to be Garden State's second woman governor
Published on November 5, 2025
For the second time, New Jersey voters have elected a woman as governor.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill appears to have won the 2025 gubernatorial election — though results are still being counted and unofficial — and will fill the seat being vacated by term-limited Gov. Phil Murphy.
The race was called for Sherrill over Republican Jack Ciattarelli by The Associated Press and NBC at about 9:25 p.m. with 60% of votes tallied.
