Sohovich '93 Nutrition Center Dedication

The Sohovich Nutrition Center was officially dedicated on 10 November in Lejeune Hall. The fueling station, named for A&SP Trustee and Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation board member, JoAnna Sohovich '93, is a supplemental resource for student-athletes. It was made possible thanks to contributions from Women For Navy Athletics.

The center supports student-athletes who compete in Lejeune Hall and Halsey Field House. Its staff includes a full-time nutritionist, interns and assistants. Athletes can meet one-on-one with nutritionist and prefuel prior to practice carbs and refuel post practice. Sohovich said in addition to supplementing King Hall meals, the center is a way to connect teammates and ensure they have the nutritional support they need. She attributed this endeavor coming to fruition to former Navy women athletes rallying around a common cause. This could just be the beginning for more refueling centers. “Our vision is to have refueling stations at the location or in the vicinity of where every sport operates,” said Sohovich, who was cross country and track and field athlete at the Academy.
