World War II Roundtable. The U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association & Foundation is hosting a special event on 25 April honoring the service and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation. An esteemed panel will discuss the critical contributions Naval Academy alumni made to help the Allies win the Pacific campaign during World War II. As we approach the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the USNA Alumni Association & Foundation aims to document the courage, commitment, leadership, and sacrifice of WWII veterans. This roundtable event will highlight the value of preserving these stories of valor as a model for future generations of midshipmen.

 

When: 1-3 p.m. Thursday, 25 April 2024

Where: Fluegel Alumni Center; 301 King George St. Annapolis, MD 21402

A limited number of tickets to the event are available for $25 each. 

 

Panelists: 

 

CAPT William J. Toti ’79, USN (Ret.), is a retired submariner who served as commodore of Submarine Squadron 3 in Pearl Harbor, HI. He is co-host of The Unauthorized History of the Pacific War Podcast which has 5 million+ views on its YouTube channel. 

 

LtCol Peter F. Owen ’86, USMC (Ret.), is a member of the adjunct faculty at Marine Corps University. He is the author of “To the Limit of Endurance: A Battalion of Marines in the Great War,” winner of the General Wallace C. Greene Award, and coauthor of “A Hideous Price: The 4th Brigade at Blanc Mont, 2–10 October 1918.” Prior enlisted in the Marine Corps. 

 

CAPT (Sel) Stan Fisher, USN, PhD – Former Naval Aviator, Permanent Military Professor in the USNA history department. His book “Sustaining the Carrier War: The Deployment of U.S. Naval Air Power to the Pacific” was published by USNI in 2023.

 

Seth Paridon – Deputy Director of the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum. Formerly with the WWII Museum and curator of its Road to Tokyo and Road to Berlin exhibits. Cohost with CAPT Toti on the Unauthorized History of the Pacific War podcast.
