VADM John “Brad” Skillman '86, USN, has been nominated by President Trump to serve as the next vice chief of naval operations, the Navy's second-highest-ranking officer. Currently serving as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Integration of Capabilities and Resources (N8), Skillman plays a key role in shaping the Navy's budget, force structure and future modernization efforts. If confirmed by the Senate, he will help oversee the service's global operations and strategic priorities alongside Chief of Naval Operations ADM Daryl Caudle, USN, Skillman's nomination places a Naval Academy alumnus at the center of decisions shaping the future fleet and the Navy's long-term readiness. A native of Indiana and Ohio, Skillman has commanded multiple ships, including USS New Orleans, USS Ponce and USS San Antonio.
