How do you see what’s happening across millions of square miles of open water? Blue Ivy chose to partner with Quartermaster to bring persistent maritime awareness to Navy commands. Sensors aboard commercial vessels already at sea collect video, imagery, and radio frequency signal data. That data flows directly into the maritime common operational pictures operators already rely on, including Palantir MSS and Anduril Lattice. Interested? Visit bip.navy to talk with us.

today in u.s. navy and marine corps history
1920 - Bombing tests are carried out against the battleship Indiana (BB-1) in the Chesapeake Bay in an effort to determine the effectiveness of aerial bombardment against a stationary target and the ability of the ship to withstand damage caused by hits and near-misses. (14 October–1 November)

USNA alumna Lustig ’19 helps train Navy’s next generation
LT Dory Lustig ’19 is helping prepare the Navy’s next generation of surface warfare officers as an instructor at Mariner Skills Training Center Pacific in San Diego. The Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School graduate earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the U.S. Naval Academy, where she says she gained leadership experience and found an opportunity to be part of something bigger than herself. Today, Lustig helps train sailors through advanced seamanship and navigation instruction, including sophisticated simulators that recreate challenging situations at sea. For Lustig, watching junior sailors and students succeed remains one of the most rewarding parts of Navy service.

Sing Second Podcast featuring former USS Cole Commanding Officer, Kirk Lippold ’81
Mid-October is here in Annapolis. The Power Boat Show came and went…and so did 4 inches of weekend rain. But, hey, before the heavens opened up, Navy Football got a big win vs Tulsa. John and Chris break down the win and preview the awesome tailgates and alumni roadshows that are coming your way in San Antonio this coming weekend. The boys chat about the upcoming Homecoming weekend festivities and some other Star matches we have on the horizon. And our Alumni interview this week is special. 12 October marked the 26th anniversary of the bombing of the USS Cole (DDG 67). Kirk Lippold ‘81 was the CO on that fateful day. Lippold joins us to remember the 17 sailors who died that day, his lessons learned and the leadership choices he made in the immediate aftermath that kept the ship from going down. An amazing conversation on a solemn day. That and more on the best Alumni Association podcast in the land. Beat Army. Always.

As the Arctic becomes an increasingly important operating region, researchers are working to ensure U.S. forces can function effectively despite demanding temperatures and conditions. The partnership brings together expertise from both military branches to confront challenges that can affect operations in the High North.

The project is part of a broader effort to rebuild the Navy and expand the nation’s shipbuilding and submarine industrial base. The center is intended to strengthen national security and military readiness while bringing new economic opportunities to Northeast Ohio. The exact location of the facility, construction timeline and number of jobs it will create have not yet been announced.
