2024 Honor Our Fallen Heroes Save the Date and Interest Survey
Alumni community,
Each fall we welcome home to Annapolis U.S. Naval Academy gold star families; those families whose loved ones are memorialized on the walls of Memorial Hall as alumni killed in action or in operational loss. There are about 2,500 alumni worthy of this honor. You are welcome to browse Virtual Memorial Hall for their stories – they are listed by class.
It is our goal at the Alumni Association and Foundation to connect with as many gold star families as we can and invite them to share in the reverence of the weekend’s activities, including a memorial service in Memorial Hall, a luncheon, and in-game recognition at a Navy football game.
Last year for the first time in the 11-year history of the program we included classmates of the fallen to participate as family escorts throughout the day. These escorts added special meaning to the day, and we will continue the practice again this year. Please find here a particularly poignant reflection on the experience by the escort for the family of Frank Wittwer ’94 at last year’s event.
Please see the attached file for the Save The Date for the 2024 Honor Our Fallen Heroes (HOFH) weekend on November 16th. Including the link to the interest survey, where classmates and friends of our fallen can indicate their interest in attending the weekend events.
Any questions about the HOFH weekend are welcome to Wes Huey or Gwenn Dennis. Thank you.
